Welcome to Chimpundu Lodge
Chimpundu Lodge welcomes children of all ages.
Chimpundu is a combination of English and the local Runyankole-Rukiga word for the chimpanzee – Mpundu. Chimpundu Lodge is perfectly placed to introduce the most discerning guest to the wonders of Kibale Forest National Park and the wider Fort Portal area.
Location
The Kibale-Fort Portal area is one of Uganda’s most rewarding destinations to explore. The park lies close to the tranquil Ndali-Kasenda crater area and within half a day’s drive of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Rwenzori Mountains and Semuliki National Parks, as well as the Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve.
Kibale’s varied altitude supports different habitats, ranging from tropical forest on the Fort Portal plateau to woodland and savanna on the rift valley floor. Kibale National Park has over 351 recorded tree species, some over 200 years old and rising over 55 meters. With over 375 species of birds and 70 mammal species with some being endemic to the region, Kibale Forest National Park is an area that needs to be explored.
