7-Day Rwanda Gorillas Trekking Safari

Overview

During this tour you will do game Drive in Akagera, see Gorillas and other primates in Nyungwe, a preserved part of rain forest which houses a variety of primate species, including, the chimpanzee, l’hoest monkeys and hundreds of acrobatic Angolan Colobus monkey. And it’s also a birder’s paradise with over 300 sptoecies, including 16 endemics… You will also visit Butare Museum, the King Palace In Nyanza, Kigali genocide memorial center, Lake kivu and be Entertainments by Intore dancers.

Day 1: Transfer To Akagera National Park

Morning after Breakfast you will be met by our safari guide who will transfer you to Akagera National Park in the eastern part of Rwanda. The drive is approximately 3 hours. On arrival, you will go for a Short Game Drive after which you will have lunch at Akagera Game Lodge. In the afternoon you will go for a canoe ride on Lake Ihema to see aquatic animals such as Hippos, Lions, Crocodiles as well as water birds like the papyrus Gonolek, shoebill stork and African fish eagle. You will be returned to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Game Drive in akagera and Transfer To Kigali

After breakfast, you will go for the early morning game drive to see wildlife such as elephants, impala, black-tailed mongoose, hippos, oribi, bushbuck, antelope, zebra, cape eland, giraffe, buffalo, and also primates like the olive baboon, vervet monkey, bush baby etc. Back at the lodge, take lunch and return to Kigali. arive late in the eveining, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Visit the Genocide memorial and transfert to Nyungwe via Nyanza

After breakfast in Kigali ou will visit the Rwanda Genocide Memorial and drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park passing through magnificent views of the beautiful hilly countryside which gives Rwanda its name as “a country of a thousand hills”. You will have Lunch in Kibuye at The shore of Lake Kivu. After lunch Proceed to Nyungwe, Arrive late in afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzees Trekking and Canopy Walk in Nyungwe Forest

You will wake early, around 4:30 am, Take breakfast and set off into the forest to track chimpanzees. During your walk inside the forest you may encounter other primates, animals and bird species. In the afternoon you will return to the Guest House for lunch. In the evening you will take off on a canopy walk where you will view a variety of animal species and beautiful landscape. After this walk you will return to the Guest House. Take your dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Gisenyi at The border of Rwanda and Congo

After Break fast at 8:00am drive to Gisenyi in Rubavu via Kibuye Road. During this drive, you will have the opportunity to see lake Kivu and the daily lives of the people at the countryside as it has been lived for centuries, virtually unchanged. This is a very scenic route and provides the opportunity to see the people at work – cultivating bananas, cassava, sorghum, beans, rice, potatoes, and even coffee in their steep and tiny fields. In addition, there are several massive tea plantations, villages, innumerable tiny brickworks, and surprises around every corner. Arrival at Gisenyi for lunch and Visit the Border of Rwanda and Congo DRC. Gisenyi is the crossong point to Congo so will also have thr opportunity to see the town of Goma from this city. Goma was devastated by the eruption of the Nyiragongo volcano. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Mountain Gorillas trekking and Visit of the Twin lake Ruhondo and Burera

You will be picked-up at 5:30 am and take off for a 2 hour picturesque drive to Volcanoes National Park found in Musanze province on your way to the habitat of endangered mountain gorillas. Upon arrival, you will enjoy breakfast and then take off to the park headquarters at Kinigi for a thorough briefing by the park warden. After the briefing, our tour guide will transfer you to the starting point of the gorilla trek. The trek may last from 1-8 hours depending on the movements of the gentle giants. Back take shore and visit the twin lake Ruhondo and Burela, Dinner and Overnight.

Day 7: Entertainment by Intore Dancers and Drive to Kigali

Wake up in the Morning, take your Breakfast and be Entertained by intore Dancers at Ibyiwacu culture center before driving to kigali. The “Intore”, once the elite of the traditional Rwanda army, were not only trained as military but also in high jump and dance. They were known for their remarkable technique allowing them to jump over 2m40. The Intore became worldwide famous as dancers in 1958 when the World Expo was held in Brussels. Today Intore dancers are part of the rich Rwanda folklore. The warriors dance is a jewel of the choreographic heritage of Rwanda. Dressed with a mane made of sisal fiber, Tied up on ankles, little bells jingle on each step, giving the warriors dance a thrilling rhythm. Throughout the Intore ballet, physical confrontation turns into artistic rivalry and then at “the end” comes out into a vigorous hug of the warriors. This is the most artistic gesture of friendship mutual aid and protection. Take Lunch and Transfer to Kigali. End of The tour.
