OVERVIEW OF 6 DAYS UGANDA GORILLA & CHIMPS TRACKING

Gorilla tracking -an ultimate experience in Mgahinga gorilla national park and chimpanzee tracking in the primate capital of the world –Kibale forest national park, Mgahinga gorilla park situated on the south western boarders of Uganda and north of Rwanda has a rich wildlife significance in protecting the rare mountain gorillas, the endangered golden monkey plus rich cultural heritage of the indigenous Batwa group. Kibale located in western Uganda is home to 13primate species with 1450 chimps.

SAFARI HIGHLIGHTS OF 6 DAYS UGANDA GORILLA & CHIMPS TRACKING

DAY 1: Travel from Entebbe /Kampala to Mgahinga gorilla National Park.

Early breakfast, meet and greet with the guide, briefing and embark on your journey early enough to Mgahinga national park-south west. En-route stop at the equator-00 latitude and later transfer on a scenic drive with beautiful countryside through Kabale -Kisoro. En-route lunch in Mbarara at Agip hotel or Igongo.

DAY 2: Do gorilla tracking

Breakfast at the lodge, transfer to Ntebeko visitor reception for registration and briefing from ranger guide. Set into the forest for tracking experience of mountain gorillas at 08:00hrs. The activity lasts about 2-4hrs, we carry our lunch boxes and have picnic lunch or have it at lodge.

DAY 3: Volcano climbing

After early breakfast, proceed for trekking experience of the Virunga’s to Muhavura, the park’s highest peak at 4,127m. You will also be able to explore the Batwa trail. The trek will lead you to the summit having pleasant views of Congo-DRC and Rwanda therefore fitness is required.

Alternative hikes (shorter) are Mount Sabinyo at 3634m and mount Gahinga at 3474m.

DAY 4: Transfer North wards of the park to Kibale national park-About 5hrs of travel

Have breakfast early enough, today we travel North west wards from Mgahinga to Kibale, enjoy a beautiful drive through Kigezi region and Queen Elizabeth national park. Lunch will be en-route arrive park in evening. Check-in at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 5: Chimpanzee tracking in the park and Bigodi sanctuary walk.

Breakfast early at the lodge, head with the guide to Kanyancu-visitor reception and start the primate tracking experience with a ranger guide at 08:00hrs. After about 3hours of activity in the forest, head for lunch at the lodge, relax a little and later transfer to Bigodi wetland, a sanctuary and wildlife corridor to Kibale national park for a 3hrs walk in search of primates, birdlife and community encounter.

DAY 6: Travel back to Kampala or Entebbe –about 6hrs drive.

After breakfast, prepare well and check-out from the lodge. Embark on our journey back to Kampala /Entebbe arriving late afternoon or evening. Lunch will be en-route.
